Meet Mary Murphy
About Mary Murphy
Your Candidate for NH State Representative Hillsborough District 27, Deering & Francestown
Why did I decide to run?
My husband, Mike, and I are concerned about the direction our country is heading and how this affects New Hampshire. We built our “forever” home in Francestown and do not wish to see this state make the same woke policy errors of the surrounding New England states.
What experience do I bring to the State Representative role?
I am self-made and my experience includes working for a large utility (Eversource), global technology company (IBM), and public school system (Bedford, NH). I built and sold a successful financial services company and served on the Board of Trustees for a large local hospital. I am currently a member of Rivier University’s Board of Trustees. In these various roles I have won multiple peer excellence, company, community, and industry awards. I am currently starting a software company, Cost Cures, that hopes to cure the high cost of healthcare through price transparency.
In summary, I have a successful track record of listening to stakeholders, tackling complex problems and developing strategies and solutions that work. I feel the state legislature might benefit from a State Representative who has accomplishments in the fields of technology, finance, education, utility, local farming and healthcare.

Why should someone vote for me?
I feel that the Democratic Party is out of touch with the priorities of everyday people and that a biased mainstream media are colluding to elevate the importance of unfounded threats to Democracy and abortion access instead of focusing on pain voters are actually experiencing, like inflation, lack of affordable housing, and the illegal alien invasion. New Hampshire passed an abortion law that is similar to the surrounding New England States, so why are Democrats misleading the public about a Republican ban on abortion? Add to this a UNH Survey Center’s recent survey of the most important issue facing the state and “Abortion/women’s rights” placed 16th.
Mary's priorities.
My platform focuses on several issues, but here are my top four:
1. Reducing the high cost of living in NH, particularly property taxes, healthcare, housing, education, and utilities. We need to bring our cost of living down to retain our young and old and attract new productive citizens and businesses.
2. Making our state more “business friendly” to recruit more companies to relocate to the state which will grow our economy and reduce our heavy dependence on property taxes as a significant source of state revenue. Business taxes, utility costs, and lack of housing supply are impediments to our success in this area. We must become more competitive with other states. We must create a coordinated effort between employers, builders, training and education providers, and the State to identify businesses that would benefit from relocating to New Hampshire, and actively recruit them to do so. Florida, Texas and other states are doing this and benefitting.
3. Reforming (not eliminating) our expensive, unscalable, and uncompetitive public school system. We boast NH is ranked 6th in the nation for education, but the USA is 38th in the ranking of similar developed countries for math and below average scores in math and science compared to other developed nations. It is impossible to meet the demand for math, business, and science teachers in every classroom. Knowledge experts from the community and increased use of technology might alleviate this staffing problem. We also need to closely examine how taxpayer money is being spent and look for ways to bring the cost down without sacrificing the quality.
4. Secure our ports of entry and Northern Border from the illegal alien incursion and the crime and costs associated with this invasion. More importantly, secure our southern border with Massachusetts (through legislation with enforcement) to make sure they do not transport their illegal alien problem to New Hampshire. Concerning this fourth priority, Massachusetts created sanctuary cities and was invaded by an estimated 393,000 illegal aliens. Now the Democrat governor is facing a financial crisis and is trying to ship them off to other states, particularly with Republican governors. The cost of incarcerating illegal alien criminals in Massachusetts now exceeds $27 million per year. Education, law enforcement, and healthcare resources are overwhelmed, and Massachusetts taxpayers are losing access to these essential services. New Hampshire must take steps to avoid Massachusetts transferring this self-inflicted calamity to our state. Our resources need to be conserved for our own poor citizens and veterans who need our help.
Other background information about Mary
I strive to live a purposeful life and have contributed to my community in many ways. In October, Mike and I will have been married 37 years. In addition to our other commitments, we run Black Shoals Farm in Francestown.
I am on the Broadband Committee of Francestown and have volunteered at Deering community events, such as the recent 250th Anniversary concert. I have been a member of the Lions International Club for twelve years, and Mike and I make regular donations to many local charities. We donated an 11-acre conservation easement on a Piscataquog riverfront property to protect the water quality in Francestown and surrounding towns. We belong to the New Hampshire Tree Owners Association, Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, Francestown Land Trust, and NH Farm Bureau. We are also members of the Parmalee Society of Monadnock Community Hospital which we have included in our estate plans. We regularly donate produce to Francestown and other local food banks to help alleviate the state’s food insecurity.
I am an NRA Patron Lifetime Member and will protect 2nd Amendment rights.
I am pro-parental rights and school choice, having been a public school high school math teacher, Learning Disabilities Specialist, and teacher’s union representative.
I will fight efforts to abolish the Electoral College and to eliminate New Hampshire’s First-In-The-Nation Primary status, as losing these would be extremely detrimental to New Hampshire’s economy and influence in the nation. I will work to secure the integrity of our elections and eliminate opportunities for voter fraud. Finally, I will work to eliminate unnecessary, expensive, or obsolete existing regulations.
I’ve never run for office before, but if the voters of Deering and Francestown elect me, I promise I will work hard to represent them and keep them informed. I want to meet as many Deering and Francestown citizens as possible so I can learn what concerns them and how they would prefer the state be run. They can contact me at Contact@MaryMurphyNH.com or (603) 265-1978 to schedule a call or brief visit.
